The Manaslu region is located on the western side of Nepal, and is home to the 8th highest mountain in the world, Mt. Manaslu at 8163m. Located near the border of Nepal along Tibet, Manaslu literally means “the spirit-mountain”. The Manaslu Heli Trek offers great sights of some of the highest mountains of the world, with unparalleled beauty and outstanding biological diversity.
Opened for trekking only in 1992, the Manaslu Heli Trek will reward you with beautiful views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks throughout the trek. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the daunting Himalayas extending beyond horizons as you trek your trekking routes. You will also encounter cultural diversities and natural scenery with high altitude glacier lakes and enthralling floras and faunas. Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival.
After being picked up from the airport, our team will accommodate you to a hotel where you will be briefed about the entire heli tour. During your overnight stay in Kathmandu, you can explore the mystical alleys and the local shops of the capital city.
Day 02: Free Day in Kathmandu
Before prepping for the heli trek, you have a day to either rest in the hotel or explore the capital city, Kathmandu. With multiple UNESCO world heritage sites in walking range, it’ll be a day to cherish, but don’t tire yourself off, as it’s just the start of the journey.
Day 03: Flight to Namrung (2630m) – 35 Mins Helicopter Flight
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the domestic airport in Kathmandu to take the helicopter flight to Namrung. Nestled in the wilderness of the secluded Nubri Valley, lies Namrung amidst rich fauna and flora, lapped on the Mt. Manasalu, along the Manasalu trekking circuit. You can take a walk around the village or visit the monastery.
Day 04: Trek to Lho Gaon (3180m) – 7/8 Hrs Trek
The sunrise over Shringi Himal, Ganesh Himal and Himal Chuli gives you a pleasant start to the day. After breakfast, we’ll be crossing Lihi village leading to the Hinang River, heading towards the direction of Himal Chuli Base Camp (4020m) at the left for a visit to a beautiful Buddhist monastery Hinang Gumba (3120m) and return back the same route to continue towards Lho Gaon.
Day 05: Trek to Punggen Monastery (4050m) - Samagaon (3520m) - 8hrs Trek
Acclimatization Day: We will start our trek early morning with easy walk through the pine and rhododendron forest along the river then climb steadily to reach Syala village. Crossing the suspension bridge a couple of hours of walk, we reach Samagaon.
Day 06: Trek to Samdo (3875m) – 4 Hrs Trek
The day consists of a short walk through Birendra Lake, heading northwest of valley as we encounter the Chorten and Mani walls along the way. We arrive at Samdo in about 4 hours after which you have the rest of the day to yourself.
Day 07: Trek to Larkya Phedi (4460m) – 4 Hrs Trek
After an easy 4-hour short walk to Larkya Phedi from Samdo, we cross a wooden bridge as we start ascending from here. Along the way, we can witness the Larkya Glacier. We continue climbing as we arrive at a guest house in Larkya Phedi which is also known locally as Dharmasala, there are some isolated tea houses.
Day 08: Trek to Bimthang (3590m) – 9/10 Hrs Trek
This is one of the most challenging day of the whole trek which starts with a short climb overviewing Larkya Peak and Cho Danda, and the ascent keeps getting steeper. Once we arrive at the Larkya Pass (5140M), we are greeted with amazing views of Kangaru, Himlung, Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kang, Namjung Himal, Ratna Chuli and Annapurna II. We continue by descending towards Bimthang but need to be careful that some sections while descending are too steep and icy, you are advised to put on your crampons.
Day 09: Trek to Tilje (2300m) – 7 Hrs Trek
As the hard part of the trek is over, we head towards Tilje where the trail passes through the dense rhododendron forest and fields slowly coming into sight. Arriving in the Manang district, we are in the restricted part of the Manang after Nar Phu. We continue our trek further down to Gowa where we will have lunch and continue descending towards Tilje.
Day 10: Trek to Dharapani (1963m), Drive to Besisahar and Then to Kathmandu
The last day of trip starts early following the trail to Dharapani for about an hour. Here, we take the 4x4 jeep to Besisahar. At Besisahar we will take another vehicle to get back to Kathmandu. We will check into our comfortable rooms and enjoy the hot showers and freshen up.
Day 11: Free Day in Kathmandu
You can enjoy the day in your hotel with a chilled beer or move around Kathmandu, getting souvenirs for your friends and family back home.
Day 12: Final Departure
Depending on your flight time you will be transferred to the airport. The airport checks in is 3 hours prior to the departure time and the hotel checkout time is 12PM. In case your flight is late evening please let us know if you require half day use of the hotel.
